I'm happy to announce that I am resuming my duties as "Barge psychiatrist." I can be found in the Infirmary during my old hours, which are on the public schedule. If you can't or would rather not make the trip, drop me a private line over the journals.

What is a psychiatrist?

A psychiatrist is like a doctor of the mind.

A doctor of the mind? Do you heal the mad?

It's not that simple. I wish it were.

I help people work through their problems, more or less. I occasionally deal with those who are mentally ill, but most of my clients only need general counseling.

~~I, uh..~~ I might be interested in your services. What kind of stuff did you do before coming?

Well, I have a degree in clinical psychology. I've done normal therapist stuff, memory regression, hypnosis, subliminal messaging...

Here, I also prescribe psychiatric medication, because I'm the only one who knows enough about it.

Did you ever work with cops before?

Yeah, well. My warden already got me some of those.

Not formally, no. I helped a friend who was a cop, as much as she'd let me.

There used to be one more...Dr. Crane, I believe his name was. He departed shortly after I arrived.

You get much business here? People sent to you to filll their fucking probation terms or whatever?

I get enough. Most of my clients aren't forced to see me by their wardens, they just come of their own accord. And some others are wardens themselves.

Not at all. In fact, he's been about as gentlemanly as I think he can get.

That's a relief, to be honest. He's a bit of a loose cannon.

I can, but I haven't asked the Admiral for that option, since you haven't given me reason. Would you like me to?

Yes. I mean, I think so. My worry is mainly Sam and Alastair. I know Sam's just as much my poison as I am his, but I can't seem to stop talking to him. With Alastair, it's more complicated.

Complicated in what way?

I don't know how to explain it.

Even a general idea would be better than nothing.

He said he wanted to put me in my place, and sometimes, I think maybe it's not such a bad idea.
